Saw the Dirtbombs yesterday at GarageFest in Portland, the highlight of an otherwise very uninspiring line up.  I was hoping to stumble upon a new favourite band as there were a dozen bands at each of the three venues, but I think the corporate sponsor merely googled “garage rock”, then judged bands by how many myspace friends they had.  Dirtbombs tho!  Not one, but two drummers!  One is Jack White’s nephew!  The drumming is not anything special, but they groove really hard and play in sync, it’s truly great to watch and you can’t help but move your feet, which, let’s face it, is really the drummer’s main job.

Great video and song! Their website drummercenter.com goes to their myspace, with tour dates from now through December.

I love the accents he creates by opening the hi hats in the chorus.  He switches from sticks to brushes and plays the first phrase with just his left hand.  Still gets the accent pattern cross.  Nice!
